By Eric Stock

The jury trial for the former Bloomington minister accused of assaulting his estranged wife has been set for June 23rd. The attorney for 47-year-old Ted Pierce plans to use the defense that Pierce was on medication when he allegedly choked and threatened to kill his wife in 2006 -- and that the prescription medication caused him to act involuntarily. The prosecution plans to file a motion to bar that defense. Pierce resigned from Second Presbyterian Church soon after he was charged.
