SPORTS - Four Redbirds earn MVC honors

Four members of the Illinois State softball team have been named first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selections. Sophomore third baseman Kara Nelson, junior left fielder Jessie Buker, junior pitcher/first baseman Amber Smith and senior second baseman Tiffany Prager were all honored at the MVC Championship banquet.
Nelson won MVC Player of the Year last year and was also a first-team selection. This is Buker's second time on the first-team. Smith is the third Redbird to be a three time first-team selection. This is Prager's first time on the MVC first-team.
This year's Missouri Valley Conference Tournament is being held at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. The Redbirds, the second seed, will be in action starting Friday afternoon with pregame at 2:15 on WJBC2.com
