By Colleen Reynolds

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White says starting May 1st, out-of-state drivers who have commercial drivers licenses will have to take and pass both written and driving tests before they'll be given an Illinois CDL.
White tells WJBC's Laughlin and Reynolds, this policy change comes after White worked with federal investigators and found testing irregularities involving CDL's issued in other states.

The Mid-West Truckers Association is supporting the new policy affecting about 2,400 drivers a year.
White is in Bloomington-Normal to give an award to Illinois Central College student Audrey Williams for her video promoting organ and tissue donation.
