Work on new 14-screen theater begins

A new movie theater in Normal will provide something the community hasn't seen before. The 14-screen movie theater will offer ice cream and gourmet coffee at its concession stand. Starplex Cinema CEO Steve Holmes says the company wants to raise the bar for theaters in the area.

A ground breaking ceremony took place yesterday morning. The theater will be located on north School Street behind the new Schnucks. Holmes says he hopes the theater will be open by May of 2008.
