A new report cites concerns surrounding education funding and how Illinois pays to treat the estimated 300,000 children in the state with mental health conditions.
The ``Illinois Kids Count'' report released Thursday concludes that Illinois children are faring better now than 20 years ago but still face problems in education funding and mental health services.
Voices for Illinois Children Director of Government Relations Sean Noble says the good news in the report is the result of hard work by many people.

The report also sees a downward trend the lack of family economic assistance programs. That's as most low-income families in the state are facing higher rates of unemployment in an uncertain economy.
The report from Voices for Illinois Children uses data from the census, the state Public Health Department and other sources.
It also comes as state lawmakers are set to return from a two-week legislative break.
