PONTIAC - Officials say federal centers set up to coordinate flood recovery in Livingston and Iroquois counties will close next week. The Federal Emergency Management Agency centers in Pontiac and Watseka will close April 4. But officials say residents can still apply for federal aid by telephone or the Web. FEMA spokeswoman Hannah Vick says the deadline to apply for aid is May 6. By last week, FEMA says it has approved $3.3 million in grants for residents in both counties. Vick says the Small Business Administration has approved about $860,000 in low-interest loans. Hundreds evacuated the counties after heavy rainfall and melting
snow sent the Vermilion River over its banks in early January.
