WIU officials say there have been no arrests in connection with a handwritten note threatening a shooting.

MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University says there have been no arrests in connection with a handwritten note threatening a shooting.

President Al Goldfarb says classes resumed as normal Thursday and students seemed comfortable with the situation.

The note was left in a drop-box of an off-campus apartment complex. It threatened a shooting Wednesday, and students were given the option of skipping classes without penalty.

There was a heightened police presence on campus Thursday, and residence halls were locked.

University officials say additional officers from the Office of Public Safety will be on campus Friday to provide an extra measure of security.
