MACOMB, Ill. - School officials at Western Illinois University say classes will resume on a normal schedule tomorrow. That's after an employee at a nearby apartment complex found a note saying there'd be an on-campus shooting today. Authorities have been patrolling the campus in Macomb. Residence halls at the school remain on lockdown tonight.

WIU activated an alert system at around 9:30 a.m., shortly after the note was found. It informed students by text message and e-mail about the threat. Police are investigating and say no suspects are in custody. WIU spokeswoman Bonnie Barker says her first thought was about the NIU shootings when she heard about the note. Students at Western chose not to attend classes today as police investigated.
