A judge is allowing Enbridge's proposed crude oil pipeline through Central Illinois to proceed while the Canadian company seeks plans to build a second pipeline from Southern Illinois all the way to Texas.

Administrative Law Judge for the Illinois Commerce Commission, Larry Jones, ruled that stopping the project at this point would be "relatively extreme," but he said ICC staff can continue to file objections about the Central Illinois pipeline.

The ICC argued the entire project should be halted, claiming Enbridge hasn't explained how the pipeline projects are related.
