Western Illinois students warned about shooting threat

State police have increased their presence on the WIU campus.

Western Illinois University students have been told they can skip class and stay in their residence halls because of a threat. This message was sent to students, faculty and staff.

Police say the threat was written on a note dropped in a payment box at an off-campus apartment complex yesterday. It warned of a shooting on campus today. There has been no shooting. Students are also being urged to report any unusual or suspicious activity.
