SPORTS - IWU to honor national champion women's track team

Illinois Wesleyan honors its Division III national champion women's indoor track team tomorrow night. A free public celebration will be held at the Shirk Center at 7 p.m., followed by an autograph session. Coach Chris Schumacher says the title was unexpected.

Schumacher says until this season, the team lacked the depth to be successful nationally.

Schumacher, senior team captains Rachel Anderson and Brooke Halcott will all speak at the celebration, along with IWU president Richard Wilson and athletic director Dennie Bridges, who will serve as master of ceremonies.
The national title represents the first the school's first for a women's program.
