After a citizen complaint in March of 2006, state public health inspectors found piles of dry, broken, chipped flooring materials and carpeting on site. An analysis showed it contained asbestos.

Slotky, the former owner of the Castle Theater, had planned to open a restaurant in the building called, "Your Mother's" but has since filed for bankruptcy.
