Senate passes gun control bill

     In response to the mass shootings at Virginia Tech, the Illinois Senate has passed a bill banning so-called high capacity gun magazines. The bill's sponsor, Senator Dan Kotowski, says the measure doesn't infringe on people's rights to own guns. He says it goes more to the heart of the matter, which is how many rounds of ammunition someone can buy in Illinois.

    But Republican Senator Todd Seiben calls the measure a "feel good" bill designed to help lawmakers tell constituents they are making streets safer.
     The measure now moves to the House.
