BLOOMINGTON - The U-High girl's swim team is gearing up for another season, and one member wants to make sure the sport is getting the recognition it deserves.
U-High junior Brie Hines is an "apprentice" captain this year, and she's taking the opportunity to make sure local residents support the team.
"I want people to know we're also a big deal and we work really hard. So I want to work on getting a lot of support for me and my teammates," she said on the You Name It Sports Zone recently.
Luckily, she shouldn't have too much difficulty in her crusade. The Pioneers won the Lincoln-Way West Invitational. Hines won the 400 individual medley and 200 breaststroke.
"Swimming is like my number one thing right now. It has totally taken over my life, which I love," Hines said.
