WJBC Ron Smith Printing Intercity HS Football Player of Week: Oct. 8

WJBC is proud to present the Ron Smith Printing Intercity High School Football Player of the Week throughout the 2012 season.

At the end of the season, WJBC will select an Intercity High School Football Player of the Year. That student athlete's school will win a $500 from Ron Smith Printing to be used in that players' name.

Here are the winners: 

McKay Moews - Central Catholic

McKay had a 23-yard touchdown reception, one interception with a 35-yard return, 13 tackles, three PAT kicks, two touchback kickoffs, and two punts with a 35-yard average as the Saints defeated Mahomet-Seymour 21-7.

Previous winners: 

Week 6: Kendrick Cooley - Bloomington

Getting a spot start because of an injury, Kendrick rushed for 317 yards and two touchdowns as the Purple Raiders downed Champaign Centennial 42-27.

Week 5: Dominique Stevenson – Normal West

Dominique rushed for 164 yards on 19 carries and scored four touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 35-23 win over Unit 5 rival Normal Community in the annual Chili Bowl.

Week 4: Alex Jefferson – Normal West

Alex rushed for four touchdowns and threw for three more scores as the Wildcats rallied to top Danville 49-39. Jefferson amassed 374 yards, 212 through the air on 12 of 17 attempts and 162 on the ground on 23 carries.

Week 3: Arion Worthman – U-High

The sophomore quarterback threw for three touchdowns and rushed for a fourth score in the Pioneers’ 46-18 win over Olympia. Worthman completed 11 of 20 passes for 147 yards and rush for 116 yards on eight carries.

Week 2: Malik Wildermuth – U-High

Malik intercepted two passes and recovered two fumbles, including one late in the 4th quarter as the Saints were driving for a potential go-ahead score, to seal the Pioneers’ 34-28 win at Central Catholic.

Week 1: Jake Romani – Bloomington

Jake threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns, along with the game winning 2-point conversation, in the Purple Raiders' 43-42 win at Danville.
