LEXINGTON - An Illinois State University student is recovering from burns she suffered after falling into a bonfire during a weekend barn dance near Lexington.

Lauren Bucaro was transferred to the burn unit at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood where she is listed in good condition.

"The good news is that we have spoken to the family of the student and she's in good shape and she should be back on campus next week," ISU spokesman Jay Groves said.

Groves said the 21-year-old Bucaro was a prior member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, which threw the Saturday dance, but isn't currently a member.

McLean County Sheriff Mike Emery says he has concerns about events at Pleasant View Farm that include alcohol.

Pleasant View Farm boasts guaranteed privacy, security, domestic farm animals ``as an attraction,'' bonfires and hayrack rides. Owner Sam Payne said he did not see the incident.

Groves said the university was not notified of the incident until late Monday.

Groves said members of the local chapter had notified the national Gamma Phi Beta, which is where the hold up appears to have occurred. 

"Our Greek Affairs people are circling back around with that sorority and the entire Greek system just to remind them if something does go wrong, the university is here to help them," Groves said. 

Groves said the university has its Critical Incident Response Team ready to provide assistance to family and friends.
