BLOOMINGTON - About an inch of snow was on the ground across the WJBC listening area Saturday morning.
Bloomington Police report that roads are passable, but drivers should reduce their speed on bridges and overpasses that tend to freeze.
The state highway garage in Bloomington reports plows and salt trucks worked overnight to clear most of the main arteries and many secondary roads have already seen the plow.
Normal Public Works Director Robin Weaver said the temperature warmed up a little overnight and the road salt is working well. She still encouraged drivers to slow down and give yourself a little extra time to make it to their different destinations this weekend. There weren't a lot of traffic accidents to report Saturday morning, but police say a few cars did end up in rural ditches.
More Snow Possible
There is more snow in the forecast. A clipper system is expected to move across the area tonight with a 50 percent chance for light snow overnight into Sunday morning. Accumulations are expected to be a half inch or less, according to the National Weather Service. A mix of rain and snow is also expected by Thursday.
