PONTIAC - Two downtown Pontiac businesses are getting funding for facade grants.
More than $6,000 was approved for Bob and Ringo's Tavern and about $10,000 was approved for LaNails to improve the front of the buildings. Pontiac Redeveloping Our United Downtown, or P.R.O.U.D., helped secure the grants, and Director Lori Fairfield said the funding comes from TIF funds.
"Downtown is in a TIF district, so those funds are used for economic development and those kinds of things, so it fits very well," Fairfield said.
The businesses do have to upgrade keeping the history of the buildings in mind.
In other business, the council approved about $6,000 for trees and landscaping. And, Mayor Bob Russell reminded council members that a meeting is scheduled for Wednesday night to discuss the possibility of a tax rebate in Pontiac.
