PONTIAC - State Police will be paying extra attention to speeders in McLean County in May.
State Police Commander William Colbrook announced Saturday that officers will conduct special Traffic Enforcement Patrols (sTEP) between May 2 and May 31 in McLean County.
Officials said the sTEP program concentrates on increased speeding and seatbelt enforcement, combined with public information designed to raise awareness of traffic laws.
Police say in Illinois, speed-related crashes account for over 40 percent of all traffic fatalities.
