PEKIN - A group of businesses in Pekin are coming together for the first annual "Day of Giving."

The event is an opportunity for residents to adopt a pet, give to the Pekin Salvation Army or donate blood with the American Red Cross.

Pet adoption will be available through the Animal Recycling Kennel, a no-kill shelter run by volunteers.

The event will be at the East Court Village shopping center in Pekin on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
