Helen Patton

Helen J. Patton, 96 of Bloomington, Ill. passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Heritage Health, Bloomington. Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m.Saturday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. The Rev. Ron Ropp and Rev. Tim Schrag will officiate. Entombment will be at Park Hill Mausoleum, Bloomington. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Mennonite Church of Normal or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Helen was born February 20, 1916 in Berkley, KY the daughter of Earl and Roberta Milner Heck. She married Harold E. Patton on November 25, 1944 in Bloomington. He passed away in 1991.

She is survived by one daughter, Janet R. Subbert of Bloomington. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gilbert and Duke Heck.

Helen grew up in Bloomington and received her Master Degree in Music Education from Illinois Wesley University, Bloomington. She taught music for the Unit 5 School District for many years, including Towanda, Brigham and Glenn Public Schools. Helen was an active member of the Mennonite Church of Normal where she directed the church choir. She was a member of community organizations, among them, Women’s Cub, Sigma Alpha Iota, P.E.O., McLean County Historical Society and was known to donate to many charities. She enjoyed being a patron to the arts.

Ruth Rudolph

Ruth Rudolph, 83, of Normal passed away at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Leroy Manor in Leroy, IL. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Christine McNeal officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington and one hour prior to the services on Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home is handling arrangements.

Ruth was born on March 16, 1929 in Bloomington, Illinois a daughter of Frederick and Ruth (Anderson) Beyer. She married Schley W. "Bud" Rudolph in Bloomington on July 29, 1951. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2001.

She is survived by her son Ed (Becki) Rudolph of Bristol, IL; her daughter Charlotte (Stan) Woelfle of Leory, IL; four grandchildren, Adam Woelfle of Leroy IL; Rachel (Cory) Iwan of Rocklin, CA; Laura Woelfle and Erik Woelfle both of Leroy, IL; and her brother Ed (Io) Beyer of Granite Bay, CA.

In addition to her husband Schley, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a son Michael S Rudolph, two brothers, and one sister.

Ruth graduated from Bloomington High School then attended Mennonite College of Nursing where she graduated in 1950. She worked as a registered nurse for Brokaw Hospital, now Advocate Bromenn Regional Medical Center, in Bloomington, for over 36 years.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was very compassionate and caring, and loved taking care of the people around her. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother, she will be deeply missed.

Nancy G. Shelly

Nancy G. Shelly, 76 of Normal passed away at 10:30 pm on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Normal. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Nancy was born on February 23, 1936 in Amsterdam, New York, a daughter of Edgar Cecil and Lillian May (Billings) Peddie. Nancy attended Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam, NY and was a graduate of Pompano Beach High School, Pompano Beach, FL in 1954. She married Michael B. Shelly in April of 1991, he survives;

In addition to her husband Michael, Nancy is survived by a daughter, Amy Elizabeth Lang (Jody) Houston of Tallahassee, FL; a step_daughter, Gretchen Shelly of Normal; a granddaughter, Emma Faith Houston of Tallahassee, FL; a step-granddaughter, Kari Sue Clark of Bloomington and a step- grandson, Mathew Clark of Normal.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Nancy graduated with honors from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL in 1958. She resided in various cities in Florida: Orlando, Naples, and St. Petersburg. From 1974-1991 she lived in Tallahassee, FL; in April of 1991 she moved to Normal, IL

She was employed at Florida State University, Center for Professional Development in Tallahassee, FL from 1985-1991. In 1992 she began her employment at the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church in Bloomington and retired in 2004.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Tallahassee, FL and First United Methodist Church, in Normal, St. Andrew's Society, Tallahassee and a member of Phi Mu Sorority at Florida Southern College.

Nancy greatly enjoyed traveling and photography.

A memorial service for Nancy will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Tallahassee.

Memorial contributions in Nancy's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Kathleen Tipton

Kathleen “Tippie” Tipton, 95 of Bloomington, Ill. passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Heritage Health in Bloomington.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Marquis Chapel of Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in LeRoy, Ill. following a luncheon at the church immediately after the funeral service. The Rev. Dean Kladder and Rev. Roger Springer will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Calvert and Metzler Memorial Home.

Memorials can be made to Second Presbyterian Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Kathleen was born November 12, 1917 in Normal, Ill. to Arthur W. and Clara M. Flegal Tipton. She is survived by close friends and distant relatives and is preceeded in death by her brother James Tipton.
Kathleen was a graduate of Brown's Business College in Bloomington. She worked for American Foundry and Furnace Co., which later became Modine Manufacturing, for 42 years prior to retirement.

She was a long time member of Second Presbyterian Church Bloomington, a member and Past Worthy Matron of Bloomington Chapter 50, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of Keystone Daughsis Klub, Delphi, the Bloomington/Normal Women Club and the Rusty Hinges of the Bloomington YWCA.

Kathleen was very fond of animals, especially her dogs. She donated 50 acres of land from her family farm to the City of Bloomington for establishment of Tipton Park on Bloomington’s northeast side.
