NORMAL - The Normal Council has agreed to a new two-year contract with the Police Benevolent and Protective Association Unit 22.
Councilman Adam Nielsen said Monday night it shows negotiations went well.
"It takes two parties to bargain in good faith and get to the point where they're at and we appreciate the effort that went into that," Nielsen said.
The contract includes 2.85 percent wage increases in both years, a match of up to $500 per year in the employee's retirement account and an increase in the sick leave exchange for retirement.
Also at Monday night's meeting, the council approved the appointment of Felicia Shaw to the Connect Transit Board, who replaces Mary Caisely. And, former councilman and current McLean County State's Attorney Jason Chambers was appointed to the Children's Discovery Museum Board for an unexpired term.
