BLOOMINGTON - Bloomington Police say they don't know what caused a downtown resident to fall nearly 30 feet to the ground from a third-floor building.
Police said the man who fell is Lawrence Hertenstein, 42 of 622 north Main Street.
Spokesman Dave White said a passer-by found Hertenstein lying in the alley behind 620 north Main St. He's being treated at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.
He said the injuries were severe enough that Hertenstein couldn't communicate with police on the scene. No foul play is suspected but the investigation is ongoing.
White said there are stories of the decks along the back of 620 and 622 north Main that Hertenstein appears to have fallen from.
