BLOOMINGTON - A small stove fire at the Luther Oaks senior living community in Bloomington evacuated one wing for almost an hour Thursday.
Bloomington Fire and Police departments arrived shortly before 3:45pm to what was originally called a full-scale kitchen blaze.
Fire Captain Steven Hill said the biggest concern was the large amount of smoke. No one was injured.
Tom Hankins of Lutheran Life Communities said about 20 residents followed protocol for a smooth evacuation. He estimates smoke caused around $2,000 in damages. Residents were allowed to return to their rooms later on Thursday.
