STREATOR - A brief lockdown was declared on Tuesday morning at Woodland schools near Streator.
After an assembly, a rifle casing was found behind bleachers in the gym. The school was placed on lockdown and the Livingston County Sheriff’s department and Streator Police responded.
A thorough search of the school uncovered nothing unusual. Schedules are back to normal today.
Livingston County Sheriff Martin Meredith praised the Woodland faculty, administration, staff, and students for their behavior during the lockdown. Any questions regarding the incident should be referred to the Woodland administration.
