Late run lifts IWU men to win over No. 5 North Central

BLOOMINGTON - Kevin Reed's baseline jumper with three minutes remaining broke a 59-59 tie and fueled a decisive 10-2 run as the Illinois Wesleyan men topped No. 5 North Central, 69-61, in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game at Shirk Center.

The win gives the No. 16 Titans a 7-0 mark (15-3 overall) halfway through the CCIW season.

The game evolved into a defensive slugfest in the second half after both team showed pinpoint marksmanship in the first half. Both teams made 58 percent of their shots as IWU led the Cardinals, 41-38, at the break.

The Titans defense held NCC to one basket in the final 4:07 of the game.

Andrew Ziemnik led five Titans in double figures with 19 points. Reed finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Titans will visit Elmhurst at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Titan women roll

The Illinois Wesleyan women got another big scoring night from Katy Seibring who poured in 21 points to lead the Titans to a 82-62 win at Augustana.

Seibing, the CCIW Player of the Week, has averaged 25 points per game in the last three games after playing her way into the starting lineup.

The IWU women improve to 5-2 in the CCIW, 12-6 overall.

The Titans will visit Elmhurst at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
