FAIRBURY - Officials are still assessing the damage from a major blaze Wednesday afternoon at Kilgus Farmstead.

 

Fairbury firefighters responded to a call at about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, and units from Forrest, Strawn, Chenoa, and Pontiac were all on the scene. The fire occurred in a hay barn that was filled to capacity. Firefighters battled the blaze until evening. There are no injuries reported, and even though some witnesses describe the barn as a total loss, there's no official word yet on the extent of the damage. 

 

Kilgus Farmstead is located just south of Fairbury. They produce specialty dairy products that service much of Central Illinois and Chicago.
