NORMAL - Illinois State football coach Brock Spack has announced that senior defensive tackle Shelby Harris, a First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, has been dismissed from the Redbird football program for conduct detrimental to the team.

ISU issued a news release stating that Spack will have no further comment on Harris’ dismissal.

Harris, 21, started all 13 games for the Redbirds on the defensive line in 2012 and was selected as an All-Missouri Valley Football Conference First-Team selection, after he recorded 85 tackles, seven sacks and 16 tackles-for-loss on the season.

Harris played in 33 games for the Redbirds, since transferring from Wisconsin prior to the 2010 season.

Court record show Harris was arrested on a battery charge in McLean County in 2011 and later reached a plea agreement and was sentenced to fines and court costs.
