NORMAL - Redbird forward Jackie Carmichael is being called a "Future Game Changer."

Carmichael was recently featured in the Sports Illustrated series, which highlights players with the potential to succeed professionally.

"Jackie is one of the best kids I've ever coached and been around," coach Dan Muller said in the video. "He's just the type of kid you'd want your daughter to marry."

The piece was filmed in Normal last week.

"I definitely approach the game of basketball being the guy who's going to bring his hard hat and lunch pail every single day and work hard," Carmichael said.

Carmichael is a preseason All-Missouri Valley Conference selection.

He has also been named the eighth best rebounder in the country according to the ESPN.com Top 10 Rebounders list, the 30th best big man in the country according to the CBSSports.com Top 50 Big Men list and the 79th best player in the country also according to CBSSports.com.

The Redbirds play their lone exhibition contest Monday night at 7 p.m. at Redbird Arena, against Quincy. Redbird Preview gets underway at 6 p.m. on WJBC AM 1230 and FM 93.7.
