BLOOMINGTON - The Girl Scouts of Central Illinois are stepping up recruiting efforts during the holiday season.
Development officer Kate Peters said Thursday Girl Scouts is much more than just selling cookies.
"We offer programming to girls in arts and literature. We offer STEM programming, which is science, technology, engineering and math, because we're learning that women are underrepresented in those fields so we're trying to get girls interested in that early," Peters said.
The Girl Scouts are also looking for volunteers.
"We just hope that people will consider us at the holiday time and get involved in some way, shape or form," she said.
