CHICAGO - Be careful on the roads tonight!
Today is Blackout Wednesday, a time when returning college students and their friends congregate at the local watering hole.
That has Secretary of State Jesse White and others worried about drinking and driving.
"Be careful, use a designated driver, take a cab, take public transportation, but never ever get behind the wheel of an automobile after you’ve consumed some alcohol," White said.
Police are also urging everyone to keep safe tonight
“I think everyone understands that people are going to go out and celebrate,” said Illinois State Police Lt. Paul Riggio. “I think everyone understands that most Americans are off work Thursday. We get it and all we can tell people is, do not get behind the wheel of a car. Enjoy your day off, enjoy your celebration but do not drive.”
