BLOOMINGTON - The father of the student who brough a gun to Normal Community High School and held a classroom hostage faces two years probation after reaching a plea agreement.
Rodney Kinder, 43, pleaded guilty to unlawful delivery of a firearm to a minor. He gave his son a .22-caliber Ruger pistol for Christmas in 2011, the boy did not have a valid firearm owner's ID card. The boy later used that gun to fire shots inside the school last September.
Kinder has also been ordered to pay a $300 fine plus court costs.
The teen has been sentenced to state juvenile prison.
