DOC guard's arrest report lacks info

SPRINGFIELD - The report an Illinois Department of Corrections prison guard was required to submit after his drunk-driving arrest in February lacks important details.

An Associated Press inquiry into the incident raises questions about DOC's handling of it.

Jeffrey Beck was arrested February 27th after his pickup slammed into a house in a town east of Springfield.

Beck is the son of DOC chief of investigations and intelligence Larry Beck. A spokeswoman says DOC has followed proper procedures.

Officials initially indicated Jeffrey Beck had not filed a report. The one they finally produced indicates Beck submitted it just hours after a police officer saw him receiving hospital treatment for a head injury.

It doesn't explain his injury or the property damage as required. A supervisor didn't sign it until three days later.
