BLOOMINGTON - Bloomington Police have offered few details about a man who was found beaten outside an apartment building on the city's west side on Tuesday
Police spokesman Dave White said the man was taken to the hospital after he was found at about 6 p.m. in the 900 block of W. Front Street.
Initial reports said that the man appeared to be unconscious, but White said it appears the victim's injuries weren't as severe as first thought. The man's condition isn't available.
Police haven't said whether there are any suspects.
Police were also called to that area shortly before 3:30 a.m. after a report of shots fired. White said police found no physical evidence of shots being fired, but reportedly smelled gun smoke.
Investigators plan to return to the scene today.
