BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Police Department has promoted Kenneth Bays to lieutenant.

Bays is a 14 year veteran and most recently served in the street crimes unit as a VICE sergeant. Department spokesman Dave White said the promotion is effective immediately.

Bays joined the department in 1998 and has worked all three patrol shifts. He was promoted to sergeant in 2006. Lt. Bays will be assigned to the Bloomington Police Department Street Crimes Unit.
