BLOOMINGTON - Police are investigating a prank that forced the evacuation of several trailers at the Hilltop Mobile Home park this morning.

Bloomington Police weren't able to share many details, but officials told WJBC a call came in that referenced a life-threatening situation. When police arrived on the scene, they found no evidence of a crime but evacuated the mobile homes as a safety precaution.

Staff who answered the office phone at Hilltop said the incident caused "quite a stir," but regular residential activity had resumed by midday.

Calling in a false report to police is a felony in Illinois. Making a prank 911 call is a Class 4 felony which is punishable by 1-3 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.

Hilltop Mobile Home Park is located south of town between South Main Street and Bunn Street.
