DECATUR - Bloomington's football team used a 19-point second quarter to roll past Decatur MacArthur, 46-14, in Big 12 Conference action Friday to clinch a share of the league title with Urbana.
The title was the 13th in 20 years with Rigo Schmelzer as coach.
Senior running back Emerson Evans led the way for BHS with 106 yards and three touchdowns. His second score, a 14-yard run midway through the second quarter, put the Purple Raiders ahead for good. The touchdown was set up by a 39-yard pass from Jake Romani to Shaun Ahlers.
BHS finished the regular season 7-2 overall and 7-1 in the Big 12.
The Purple Raiders seized the momentum near the end of the first half when senior linebacker David Vaught recovered a fumble in the MacArthur end zone on a punt atrtempt that boosted the BHS lead to 26-7.
Junior running back Kendrick Cooley ran for 106 yards and two touchdowns, while Romani passed for 140 yards and a touchdown.
