NORMAL – Normal Community High School’s football team kept its hold on first place in the Big 12 Conference with a 50-6 pasting of Decatur Eisenhower on Friday night. The Ironmen have a 5-0 record in league play and are 5-1 overall.
The Ironmen rolled to a 29-0 lead after the first quarter by scoring four touchdowns. Senior quarterback Colin Olson hooked up with Easton Schaber on a 9-yard pass to start the onslaught. That was followed by an 11-yard touchdown run by Olson, a 1-yard run by Jerry Patton and 29-yard scoring jaunt by DJ Frank.
NCHS extended the lead to 43-6 by halftime as Patton scored on a 9-yard run and Frank on a 10-yard run. The Ironmen’s final touchdown came in the third quarter on a 31-yard pass from AJ Devecchi to Tyler Blanks.
“It was such a good game from the fact that everybody got to play,” said NCHS coach Wes Temples. “To me that’s what it’s all about because those guys (reserves) work extremely hard in practice and for them to play as much as they did was great.”
