It was a battle of cross-town rivals and and family during Saturday nights Intercity basketball game as the Normal Ironmen outlasted the Normal West Wildcats 43 to 33.
The only players in double figures shared the last name of Seibring as Tyler and Trevor Seibring led the Ironmen with 12 and 11 points in the win. Not to be outdone by his cousins Spencer Seibring led the Wildcats with 12 points as Normal West shot all 3-pointers early and didn't attempt a 2-point field goal in the 1st quarter.
Normal led by only 2 points after the first quarter but extended that lead to 8 at halftime.
Normal spread the ball around as 8 players scored for head coach Dave Witzig. Callen Boddie had 7 points in the contest while Marquet Newsome chipped in 5 points scoring all of his points from the free throw line.
The Ironmen held the Wildcats to just 13 points in the second half only allowing 3 points by Normal West all of the third quarter. With the win the Ironmen improved to 1 and 2 playing the first Big 12 Conference game of the year. Next up for the Ironmen another Big 12 opponent in Bloomington on Monday night at 6:00pm.
