NORMAL - Illinois State basketball coach Dan Muller said Friday sophomore guard Geoffrey Allen is still a member of the team, but is not participating in practice as the Redbirds prepare for Sunday's non-conference game against Morgan State.

Allen was suspended indefinitely Wednesday by Muller prior to his arrest on two charges related to alleged marijuana sales. Allen is free after posting bond.

"To say I was surprised by what happened with Geoffrey would be an understatement," said Muller. "But I can assure you it's not taken lightly whatsoever. It will be an internal matter on the team how we handle it and we are still working through the details of everything."

Allen had played in six of the Redbirds' first nine games, logging 49 minutes while averaging 3.5 points and 2.7 rebounds. The 6-foot-6 Allen transferred to ISU this summer from Eastern Washington.

Muller said Allen's absence won't alter how the Redbirds play.

"It doesn't change much," said Muller's whose team puts its 6-3 record on the line at 4:30 p.m. against Morgan State at Redbird Arena. "It's always been we're a team and we keep moving along. People step up and people step in. We've got great depth, so it hasn't affected our team much on the court and certainly going forward it shouldn't."
