The Wildcats got their first win of the season Monday night, pulling out ahead late with a convincing 54-38 win over the Central Catholic Saints.
West began the game with a 10-0 run, but the Saints came back to make it 15-11 and the end of the first quarter.
Central Catholic continued their run in the second quarter, eventually amassing a 20-10 run tying the contest at 20 midway through the second period. The Wildcats put down a couple buckets late and put themselves out in front by four at the halftime break 26-22.
The Saints really couldn't penetrate the Wildcats lead in the second half, only getting to within 3 in the final two quarters. West led by seven at third quarter break and built that lead to 16 in the final eight minutes
Seniors Adam McGinnis and Spencer Seibring led the Wildcats in scoring, with McGinnis grabbing 16 points and Seibring finishing with 14.
Both Normal West and Central Catholic finish the Intercity Tournament at 1-3.
