BLOOMINGTON - Illinois Wesleyan junior Andrew Ziemnik scored a career-high 17 points as the Titans stayed unbeaten with a 74-65 win over Illinois College at Shirk Center.
The Titans (3-0) kept the Blueboys (1-2) at arms length for much of the night, leading for nearly the entire game but never by more than 11 points.
Wesleyan used an up-tempo style to their advantage in the first half, taking a 43-38 lead into the intermission. After shooting 50 percent from the field in the first-half, the Titans struggled for much of the second half, connecting on 41 percent.
Despite struggling at the free-throw line for much of the night (17 of 28), IWU made six consecutive free throws in the final minute to secure the win.
Eric Dortch added 11 points for IWU. Brady ZImmer scored 10 in his first significant game action since being sidelined with back spasms.
The Titans make their first road trip of the season to Wabash on Saturday at 3 p.m.
