NORMAL - Central Catholic beat Normal West, 62-52 to capture the Intercity Girls Basketball Tournament Title Tuesday Night at Normal Community High School.
Danielle Davis led all scorers with 17 points and teammate Caroline Holt added 16 more to carry the Saints offense.
Central Catholic jumped out to the early lead with the help of some mistakes by the Wildcat offense, leading to a 32-23 Saints lead at halftime. The Saints would increase their lead to 16 in the third quarter until Normal West came roaring back to take a 42-41 lead going into the fourth quarter.
But the Saints defense would step up and with help from Holt and Davis they would regain the lead and hold it until the final buzzer.
This is the fifth year in a row that Central Catholic has captured the Intercity Girls Basketball Title.
