Bloomington football win big, seals 27th consecutive playoff berth

BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Purple Raiders clinched a 27th consecutive playoff berth with a 33-7 win over Decatur Eisenhower at Fred Carlton Field. 

It took the Purple Raiders just two plays to get on the board as Jake Romani connected with McLean Funk on a 49-year touchdown strike one minute into the game. 

The tandem of Romani and Funk would hook up against later in the first quarter for a 6-yard strike to put the Purple Raiders up 14-7. 

Bloomington also got rushing touchdowns from Austin Weltha and Chance Mendiola to cap the scoring. 

Emerson Evans led the Purple Raiders with 124 yards on 13 carries. 

Funk caught five passes for 84 yards. 

Romani completed 7 of 14 passes for 116 yards.
