CHAMPAIGN - Emerson Evans and Kedrick Cooley combined for 189 yards rushing to lead Bloomington to an easy 52-6 triumph over Champaign Central in Big 12 Conference action Friday at Tommy Stewart Field.

The victory moved the Purple Raiders' overall and confererence record to 3-1. Champaign is winless in four games.

Evans carried the ball six times for 96 yards and scored two touchdowns. His first touchdown came at the 2:13 mark of the first quarter on a 5-yard run that capped an 8-play, 95-yard drive. Devaughn Dix ran for the 2-point conversion and an 8-0 BHS lead after one quarter.

Evans second touchdown came on a 98-yard kickoff return to open the second half to boost the BHS lead to 31-0. The Purple Raiders scored twice in the second quarter on a 25-yard scoring strike from Jake Romani to Davin Biggs and a 2-yard run by Chance Mendiola.

The BHS defense forced a pair of fumbles in the second quarter to set up the scoring. John Kissel had an 8-yard field as time expired for a 24-0 halftime advantage.

Adam Swords had a 20-yard pass interception for touchdown 18 seconds after Evans' kickoff return to stretch the BHS lead to 38-0. Cooley and Jacob Blankenship added touchdowns in the third quarter to complete the Purple Raiders' scoring.

BHS had 335 yards in total offense. Romani completed 6 of 11 passes for 104 yards. Josh Hoye was the leading receiver with three receptions for 58 yards. He also led the defense with 13 tackles, including one quarterback sack.

The Purple Raiders returns to action next week when it plays host to Chicago St. Patrick in a 1:30 p.m. game Saturday at Fred Carlton Field.
