SPRINGFIELD - State Rep. Dan Brady, R-Bloomington, led Illinois House lawmakers in a moment of silence on the House floor this morning in honor of Bloomington and Hudson firefighter Chris Brown, who was killed in the line of duty.
"Yes, Chris is one of my constituents, but as importantly, Chris was a friend," Brady told his House colleagues.
Brown was killed when a semi collided into emergency vehicles on Interstate 39 on Tuesday night.
Brady asked fellow lawmakers to think about emergency responders who risk their lives to preserve our safety.
"Please remember Chris and all those who have gone before him and all of those who have put their life on the line everyday for the protection and safety of the citizens in our state and across the country," Brady said.
The 39-year-old Hudson man had been a full-time firefighter for 12 years. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Eastview Christian Church.
