Actress Rebecca Pidgeon has portrayed women with dual purposes in thriller films like Heist. She has often worked in films and plays directed or written by her husband David Mamet, who specializes in characters who have another, hidden life.
For over 20 years Pidgeon has herself been living a dual role, but one possibly less nefarious. Once the lead singer of the UK band Ruby Blue, Pidgeon has maintained a musical career, recording 6 studio albums, while simultaneously engaged with her acting career including the films The Spanish Prisoner and RED as well as television with The Shield.
The worlds of acting and songwriting are not altogether different for Pidgeon. She tells Steve Fast, "You have to take on some sort of persona when performing a song."
Her new album Slingshot features collaborations with songwriter Freedy Johnston and Pidgeon's husband Mamet. She performs Friday, January 11 at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.
