BLOOMINGTON - Former Democratic Congressional candidate, and current emergency room doctor, David Gill has been appointed to a state post.
In an order signed by Gov. Pat Quinn, Gill has been named temporary assistant director of the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The appointment comes with a $128,000 salary and expires Jan 19, 2015.
According to a letter from Quinn's office, the former director was Teresa Garate.
Gill lost the 13th Congressional race to Republican Rodney Davis in 2012. He has never held a public office.
