GALESBURG - The Illinois Supreme Court has added another Illinois county to its cameras in courtrooms pilot program.
The high court on Thursday said news cameras and microphones would be allowed in Knox County trial courtrooms.
Knox County is the 25th Illinois county participating in the pilot project. The state Supreme Court approved the program earlier this year. Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas Kilbride says a quarter of Illinois counties are part of the program.
The order is effective immediately.
Knox County is part of the 9th Circuit, which also includes Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, McDonough and Warren counties. However court authorities say they want to experiment in Knox County before expanding to the rest of the circuit.
