WASHINGTON, D.C. - About 40 Illinois State Police troopers are helping keep the peace in Washington, D.C. today.
The State Police agency is among 90 other law enforcement agencies helping with security during the Presidential Inauguration.
SP Director Hiram Grau said it's a mission they were proud to accept. He said he's confident his team will represent the ISP honorably during today's historic events.
President Obama took his public oath of office this morning.
He and the First Lady are scheduled to attend several balls this evening.
